Lindau
In the summer of 2022, I had the opportunity to participate in a methodological and language course for teachers within the Erasmus+ programme. The course took place from 25th to 29th July at the Dialoge Language School, located in the picturesque German town of Lindau. This course consisted of 2 parts - language and methodological.
During the morning session we participated in an ongoing language course where we had the opportunity to meet students from China and Lithuania preparing for a certificate or future university studies in Germany. The classes were taught by Alexander Ullmann and we worked with the Mittelpunkt C1 textbook.
Our group consisted of six German teachers from different countries, namely Spain, Italy and the Czech Republic. The international composition gave us different perspectives and enriched our professional development. We shared information with each other about teaching in different countries and types of schools.
We spent two afternoons on methodological preparation, which was very beneficial for me personally. We got practical tips and inspiration for teaching. In addition, we received a flash drive with a diverse range of teaching activities, theoretical information, recommended films and websites.
During the course I was inspired by several new activities. For example, every lesson our teacher Alex brought us new vocabulary words from the previous day on slips of paper. The repetition then consisted of us working in small groups to explain the concept and others guessing what the word was. This activity was beneficial for reviewing new vocabulary but also for developing our communication skills.
Another interesting activity was Satztaboo. It is a game where participants try to explain the words on the card without using the key words given. The others try to guess the term.
I also found the magnetic bar that was around the perimeter of the classroom very inspiring. It could be well used for presenting students' posters or for other vocabulary activities. We then implemented the bar in our German language classroom.
The leisure coordinator, Stanislao Palmieri, provided us with information on leisure activities and gave us tips on interesting places to visit around Lindau.
All in all, it was a very intensive course that brought new perspectives and practical skills for my future teaching activities. I am grateful for this experience and for the opportunity to share experiences with colleagues from different countries, which contributed to enriching and broadening my professional outlook.
